Abstract

In the realm of medical discovery, a momentous revelation emerged when Epstein Barr virus (EBV) was found in cultured Burkitt's lymphoma (BL), the most prevalent childhood tumor in tropical Africa. This pivotal discovery was fortified by positive correlations between EBV and BL, exemplified by the presence of antibodies against actin, intermediates filaments, single-stranded DNA, and histones in the sera of afflicted patients. The unveiling of this connection breathed new life into the exploration of cancer's potential origins.

Burkitt's lymphoma, known for its aggressive nature and swift proliferation, can lead to devastating consequences if not promptly treated, often resulting in death within a year. In this context, the present review endeavors to encapsulate the comprehensive panorama of EBV's role in the development of Burkitt's lymphoma in children. Encompassing a thorough analysis of the clinical manifestations, geographical prevalence, pathogenesis, and oncology of the virus, this exploration seeks to shed light on the intricacies of this affliction.

Drawing upon cutting-edge research in the domain of viral-induced cancer, this endeavor aspires to offer a beautifully woven tapestry of knowledge. It aims to illuminate the landscape of EBV's impact, unveiling the mosaic of factors that contribute to the genesis of Burkitt's lymphoma. By delving into the latest insights, this review aspires to pave the way for innovative approaches to the treatment of this challenging disease, holding the promise of a brighter future for those affected by this formidable condition.
