Abstract

Nature is abundant with microorganisms that are beneficial, harmful or with no direct consequence to human life. Phages play important roles in the environment such as regulation of bacterial abundance, transfer of genetic material by transduction etc. Apart from these, phages are also considered as potent agents for use in antibacterial therapy of both animal and human diseases. This article provides an insight into bacteriophage use in antibacterial therapy and its application to fisheries.
