Abstract

The mathematical model used for analysis and designs of the control system are expressions which describe the relationships of the system inputs, outputs and other variables. This paper formulates a DC motor-gear-AC generator mathematical model where the generator is run by a motor coupled by use of specialized gears. The equation and the transfer function that describe the system are desinged, block diagram constructed in the Simulink and using the parameter values of the Motor-Gear-Alternator (MGA) system and assuming the capacitor value as one, the workability of the system is then tested. The results showed that the model is of a third order and response to the MGA valuses.

Aims:

i. To formulate a mathematical model describing the motor-gear-generator system.
ii. To design a transfer function of the system.
iii. To construct the Simulink from the transfer function of the model.
iv. To test the model from the MGA parameter values and assumed capacitor values.
v. To determine the effect of capacitor on the MGA system.
