Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive stability analysis of a DC motor speed control system with communication delays. A direct and exact analytical method is proposed to compute stability delay margins that take into account gain and phase margins. The method is based on the elimination of exponential terms in the characteristic equations. The time-domain simulation studies indicate that the proposed schemes give better desired dynamic performance as compared to the recently developed schemes for DC motor speed control system with communication delays.
