Today’s educational technologies as well as other students are faced with a myriad of challenges, including the use of computer technology in teaching as well as in work place. A common assumption is that educational technology students bring with them the knowledge and ability to integrate the use of computer technology into teaching as well as applying that technology in work place to make their work more effective and efficient. The purpose of this study was to determine if educational technology students were fully prepared to use technology in teaching or in work place. The population for this study consisted of 40 students in a medium size public university. Thirty-nine students with some access to technology in their school environment completed a survey of computer technology skills at the end of their final semester before graduation. The survey instrument was composed of three sections. Section A sought information on survey recipients' perceptions of their computer skills. Section B sought information on gender and computer technology. Section C sought demographic and computer background information. The framework for gathering the research data was descriptive-correlation. Results suggested that students were not adequately prepared to use technology neither in school nor in work place.
